Dirt Devil Kone Hand Vac Mini-Review
So I was walking through Target the other day and saw this hand-vac and I just had to have it. It just looks so cool, and was a perfect solution to fix some of the Roomba’s shortcomings. At only $39 I figured I would give it a try since I really needed a small hand vac and hated how most of the traditional ones looked. Once I got home and tried it out I made a very interesting discovery, this little hand vac rocks. Seriously, it can get into all the little nooks and crannies that my Roomba can’t and this little vac has serious power.

Of course just like anything these days, the price and the look of the Kone do limit functionality somewhat. There are no attachments and the size seems to restrict the amount of dirt it can pick up before you have to empty it. Another limitation is the battery life which was minimal. Don’t expect this hand vac to last more than 15-20 minutes on a full charge. Obviously designed much more for light duty, the Dirt Devil Kone does a great job at sucking up stray hairs and dust in those annoying spots around your home theatre and couch but lacks the power or stamina for larger tasks. While these limitations might deter some they don’t bother me in the least. My biggest gripe with these types of vacs is how they always look ugly which makes you stash them in a closet somewhere. Not so with the Kone, you will want to place this out where everyone can see it. The light on the front reminds me of my Macbook’s glowing LED and the shape makes it stand out as something artistic which complements the decor.
Overall I really like my Dirt Devil Kone hand vac and wish more manufacturers would produce designs such as this. The concept of making a simple tool look so cool is one that should be the norm rather than the exception.
